KG TAGAROH KOTA MARUDU

My village. 

Kg. Tagaroh exists before the era of tobacco farms by dutch company in 1890s at Bandau (Kota Marudu) where people of Kg Tagaroh at that time also work in that company. Kg. Tagaroh is a small village located in Kota Marudu district. It takes 10 minutes away from Kota Marudu Township. Majority of people in kg. Tagaroh are dusun tindal ethnic. There is a famous river in Kg. Tagaroh which is a river called Sungai Tagaroh where every people in the village use the river for their agriculture activities. There are a huge number of people in Kg. Tagaroh doing agriculture activity to raise their income which is including oil palm plantation and rubber estate, dairy farming and etc. 

Once upon a time, there is a woman known as “bobolian” which means a person who can treat disease by using black magic. She was appointed to visit a village to give her treatment to people in the village where many people in the village are struggling with a disease that hard to be cure. The woman has create a remedy for that kind of disease by traditional medicine. The treatment only can be done by night and the woman has treat many people in that village. One night after the woman finish to treat people in that village, normally they will drink a traditional drink called ‘’Tapai’’ and they become drunk. On her way to back home, her beads or known as “Karoh” in dusun language drooped along the way that village. Beads or Karoh are traditionally used along their waist by dusun’s ethnic.  From that time people called that village as “Natatakkaroh” which is “Natatak” means dropped and “Karoh” means beads. Until one day people in the village simply called the village as Tagaroh. well, this information I got from my grandfather where he received from my ancestor(Lupai Bte Gompilo).
